Disposable moist towelettes also work well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Separate: <\/strong>Use clean plates. Likewise, don\u2019t put foods eaten raw on the same platter that held raw meat or poultry. If you\u2019re trick-or-treating, health and safety experts say you should remember these tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Inspect before eating.<\/strong> Don\u2019t eat candy until it has been inspected at home.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Homemade treats.<\/strong> Avoid homemade goodies from people you don\u2019t know. The CDC recommends avoiding eating homemade treats made by strangers since there is no way to ensure the person preparing them followed proper food safety procedures.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eat before heading out.<\/strong> Trick-or-treaters should eat a snack before heading out, so they won\u2019t be tempted to nibble on treats that haven\u2019t been inspected.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Food allergies.<\/strong> If your child has a food allergy, check the label to ensure the allergen isn\u2019t present.
